What's the song that plays from "Harold & Kumar Go To White Castle" when Harold's driving home in the beginn.?
It’s a hip-hop kind of tune with a guy and a girl that rap. Anyone know what I’m talking about?

It should be "Ridin’" by 86 & Classic

We ALWAYS hear "Ali LOST his Best Years". Do we not TRUMPET ENOUGH the Patriotism of JOE LOUIS "Giving Up" His?
From the Spring of 42 to the Summer of 46 { MORE THAN 4 LONG YEARS! } The Great "Brown Bomber" had a grand total of 1 Title Defense, because of the Noble Patriotism he displayed during the years of World War 2 !….These would have been some of Joe’s most extraordinairly years of Pugilistic Exploits. But to Joe, giving his service to "Apple Pie" was MUCH MORE IMPORTANT than getting a "Piece of the Pie"!

This sighting IS NOT meant to be an "Anti-Ali" statement. It is simply to reinforce what a TRUE American Hero "The Brown Bomber" REALLY WAS.

Very good question with many very good answers. People used to Trumpet Joe Louis often but praise is often reserved for a generation and the Louis generation is mostly gone. ALI, in terms of "parading" benefits from a few things. Here are some.

The Tyson Generation is alive and well and people tend to compare their generation’s hero to his predecessor, with due respect to Larry Holmes, that would be ALI. People often skipped over Marciano and compared ALI to Louis.

Regarding ALI and Louis, it’s near impossible to praise one and not ridicule the other. They responded to similar issues (war) in drastically different ways. If you were non-white, espically black, your view was either "Knocking on the door and not being welcomed in" or "Seeking your own route because you know you will never be welcomed".

Louis and ALI, today, are viewed as "Boxing" legends. Go back a few generations and it’s near impossible to like one without disliking the other.

Louis fans viewed ALI as an Ungrateful draft dodger, militant and unpatriotic.

He was fed up with the second class treatment of blacks (imagine not being allowed to enter a resturant in your own town), and decided to take a stand, KNOWING what he stood to lose. In that regard, ALI fans respect him a great deal.

ALI fans viewed Louis as an uneducated "Yes man" who foolishly broke his back for a country that never fully accepted him.

Though he was not allowed into certain public places, he still served in the military. The sad part is that nothing changed for him after he served and the IRS (separate in some ways from the govt. but still under the same umbrella), Still dogged him to his death, AFTER he donated MUCH of his earnings to the various military relief funds.

Joe Louis never liked ALI. It was written that he felt ALI did not behave in a way "negros" should.

Muhammad ALI respected Louis as a boxing legend but he had little respect for the way Louis so willingly lied down and allowed himself to be trampled over after his many attempts to "Fit in".

Joe Louis did "give up" years of his career to the service but he did it because he thought it would also benefit him in the long run. He did it for the benefit of others, which is nobel. However, if you’re in ALI’s position and you see what good it did Joe, it’s hard to take the same position, knowing that times had not changed any and you would receive the same treatment or worse.

Blacks were treated worse during ALI’s time than during Louis’ time. During Louis’ time, blacks usually just accepted their given role, no matter how inhumane, lived a hard life and died young.

During ALI’s time, blacks had begun to speak up and take steps to improve the terrible quality of life.

Lastly, you have to consider the terrible things the govt. esp. Mr. Hoover, did to ALI and other blacks. His reasons were personal and he was given FAR too much power by the govt. The REASON ALI was drafted, after first being classified ineligible, is because he was a member of the NOI and "they" wanted him silenced.

ML King and Malcom X voiced in their different ways but The heavyweight champion of the World is considered a much bigger threat because people will listen to him.

I respect Joe Louis as a boxing legend. I respect anyone who serves our country. But I don’t agree with ALL the decisions Louis made. I also respect ALI for taking a stand for what he felt was right, regardless to what he stood to lose.

Sure did and what did he get in turn? He couldn’t walk into a restaurant in his home state and have lunch. Then on top of that Uncle Sam decides to charge him with Tax Evasion so much for being a hero!

Kudos for trumpeting Joe! He tends to get slighted because baby boomers in the U.S. tend to trumpet Ali due to his refusal to sign up and i find it funny that all those draft dodgers have been running the government the last 18 yrs. and send kids out to die without much thought.

*Edit- To Galactus:
This notion of Ali being a "freedom fighter" is intellectually dishonest! Safe to say all black folks were tired of second hand treatment at that time, but to try and revise history, as others have done, for the purposes of making Ali a man for the cause is absolutely wrong. At his best he was a lackey for the Nation of Islam and at his worst a man who promulgated self-hate. At no time was he a spear for the Civil Rights movement and you degrade the work of hundreds of athletes/entertainers that actually participated in major ways.

Another troubling comment was your idea that black people were treated worse in this country during the 60’s because they all of a sudden found awareness. This is hogwash! The civil rights struggle began after the civil war and only reached its culmination, legally, in the 60’s. Get rid of the savior complex and recognize that the transition from kaffles to cuff links was a long arduous battle for liberty!

Rock on…quite a few athletes took time off from their careers to serve our country, and they don’t make anywhere near the amount of money the spoiled brat athletes make today. I’m thinking of Ted Williams in particular.

Thanks for posting this…BTW I Love Cassius Clay, thanks for making it positive :) Kelly Bundy | Nov 05, 2009
