Lookout, The (2007) IMDB rating: 7.40 Plot: An admired high school hockey player (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) with a bright future foolishly takes a drive in the night with his girl friend and two other friends with his headlights off with devastating results. The former athlete is left with a brain injury that prevents him from remembering many things for extended periods of time. To compensate, he keeps notes in a small notebook to aid him in remembering what he is to do. He also lives with a blind friend (Jeff Daniels) who aids him. Obviously, with the mental incapacitation, he is unable to have meaningful work. Thus he works as a night cleaning man in a bank. It is there he comes under the scrutiny of a gang planning to rob the bank. The leader (Matthew Goode) befriends him and gets him involved with a young woman (Isla Fisher) who further reels him in. After they get close and after reeling him in with his own failures, the bank plan unfolds. Confused but wanting to escape his current existence, he initially goes along with the scheme. After realizing he is being used, he attempts to stop the robbery, which of course immediately goes awry. Bruce McGill and Alberta Watson also co-star as the young man’s parents, who still search for the person that was there before the tragic crash.

Good idea for a story, yes or no. Contains gay material. Very long.?
It’s at an all-boys school.

It starts with this guy named Xavier, who is obsessed with a boy named Danton. He stalks him, takes his picture without him knowing, leaves a river of anonymous notes in his locker, and watches him through the window at home. Danton is thoroughly creeped out, but does not say anything until he is home alone one day and he notices things that point to someone having been in the house (all his drawers had been looked through but nothing taken, the window open, etc.)

He tells his brother who is the same age as him, and his brother tells their best friend, and the two of them decide they’ll find out who this guy is and stop him. They do find Xavier, beat him to a nub, and threaten his life.

The next day, the entire school knows about what happened. Immediately, some students are concerned for "poor Xavier" who was innocent and victimized, and some students are taken by Luke (Danton’s brother) and William’s ( their friend) action.

When Xavier does not stop talking about his obsession with Danton, some of the other boys kind of join him. This is where it loses some of it’s sexuality, because it becomes more of a principal than a human fixation. Danton represents innocence, sweetness, almost perfection, and the boys, after listening to Xavier, see that and so many other things that they become obsessed with as well for so many reasons, only some of them sexual.

When the obsession becomes stronger and Danton begins finding more notes in his locker, begins noticing people staring at him, he gets scared and more people join Luke and William in trying to stop the "freaks".

It slowly escalates, and finally, there’s an attempt by a few of the obsessives to kidnap Danton. This causes an uproar. The students are suddenly frantic. Those obsessed with Danton (or the idea of having/obtaining Danton) have to show up to his house, tap on the bathroom window while he’s taking showers, etc. Those who are hell-bent on protecting Danton follow him around, buy his lunch, and are all around on the lookout.

It gets extremely violent as they set out to destroy each other, to stop the other "side". Luke gets shot, not killed, just shot in the arm. There are stabbings. Rapes. Three selective deaths throughout the story. All associated with gang violence by the police.

There’s a theme of the adults in the story being very uninvolved.

There is a scene where Xavier is talking about how he never wanted it to be like this, how everybody is greedy and evil and all he ever did was love Danton.

Then there are Luke and William, who were concerned for Danton, and are baffled by those who are also "concerned" because the others seem more interested in hurting "freaks" like the ones obsessed with Danton.

It strays from actual Danton, but never /really/ does because everything is kind of motivated by him.

After Luke got shot, it all started to unravel. More than half the student body was directly involved in this, and the rest knew exactly what was going on. Kids were genuinely afraid to come to school because of all the violence and terror. Of the three deaths, one was of an obsessive, one was of a protector, and one was of this innocent guy who went to school and said the wrong thing.

It ends with the very disturbed Xavier bringing a gun, killing Danton, Luke, wounding William, killing one of the higher-ups of the obsessives, and then killing himself to "end the madness".

At the VERY end, the adults in the story, who had been extremely absent, are seemingly clueless to everything (including the deaths) and are asking the kids to sit down and do some schoolwork. It’s the first time that there’s a scene in the classroom.

I think it could be very interesting, if you wrote it well enough to make it seem plausible. You would also have to do lots of planning with regard to structure, imagery, themes, characters and so on.

not bad.
has a bit of a manga theme to it though,
particularly with it’s revolving mostly around school/home
and having a small group of friends.

the plot seems a little weak here and there, but other than that it looks like a decent story.

for some reason some story’s become so much better when visually depicted.
and so personally i think it would make a better graphic novel than a plain novel.
so maybe you might have some one help you visualize the charters in the story.

I am thinking I am headed for a heartbreak. I have been married since 2002, my husband is 34 yrs old from Boston. I am 30 and we have one daughter. We have been seperated before, but I don’t know who he is anymore. He keeps wanting to have sexual relations with other couples, goes to get Tattoos, spends money we don’t have. I get so upset that I yell and scream and tell him to grow up and he makes fun of me calling me bi-polar, and crazy and period girl. He says he is a kid at heart and will never grow up. It may be time to consider moving on.

Considering he’s placing ads on craigslist soliciting for relationships outside the marriage, he’s made it clear that his interests are lying elsewhere.

Believe me. You are right in how you feel, and you ARE NOT crazy! His complete disregard of your feelings and monetary well-being goes beyond being a "Kid at Heart" and straight to completely self-centered. Where he’s from does not entitle him to attempt adultery and betray the sanctity of marriage, nor does it make it okay for him to spend money he shouldn’t and put to risk whether or not you’ll be able to feed the family.

The likelihood of him changing his ways are slim to none so you should start thinking about whether or not a continued relationship with him is going to be healthy for you, and most importantly, for your daughter. I can say from personal experience that parents you love dearly screaming and yelling at one another is extremely frightening and damaging emotionally, no matter how old you are. If you don’t show her what a good relationship looks like, and what to do if it isn’t any good, who will? You need to take charge and do the right thing for the sake of both you and your child.

Divorce isn’t easy, I just finished with one myself, it’ll feel awful for a while, sometimes you may even wonder how to get through the day. But given time, you’ll thank yourself for it, maybe even think "Ex-husband who?"

Ask yourself this: How am I benefiting from this marriage? Right now it doesn’t seem like either of you are getting anything out of being married. It doesn’t sound like you’re happy at all. If you want something different in the future than he does then you probably shouldn’t be together.

To me, you should’ve left him the first time he was unfaithful to you. He obviously doesn’t respect you if he calls you names and treats you the way he does. You need to have enough self respect for yourself and decide that you’re not going to let yourself be treated this way anymore. If you stand up for yourself then he, and everyone else, will respect you more too.

Why couldn't she get a restraining order? LONG?
My mom had a boyfriend of 15 years who is emotionally abusive, calls her names, cheats, and lies about everything, whether it’s necessary or not. Last night she got a call from "the other woman", who thought she was the only woman. He had told her my mom was a crazy psycho ex.
The problem with this was, my mom had broken up with him because HE was psycho, and he had come back crying saying he had been in a mental ward because of the break up, and she took him back. (She’s a big softie. Has the biggest heart I’ve ever seen.)
He convinced this other woman that my mom was insane and trying to take all his money, (which is NOT true. My mom refuses to take any money from him at all.) and was sending the woman texts he sent to my mom, saying they were from my mom. Things that were very derogatory and just awful.
He drew up a legal document saying my mom was spreading slander, which he told the woman was a lie. He begged her to have it approved by a lawyer and served to my mom. He also gave her a three hundred dollar check to pay for the service.
She thought some things were off, and her conscious was telling her not to, so she didn’t do it, and instead found my mom’s number and called her.
She and my mom sat for about two hours on the phone putting all the pieces together. Turns out he had been having sex with the woman at a local hotel and taped it, telling her there was no tape in the camera, when there was. They found out so much together, and have both decided they would do what they can to help each other. He even went as far to pick the woman up in my mom’s car, saying it was mine, and that I was suicidal and "loved" him. (Which is hilarious, because I can’t stand him at all.)
The woman forwarded my mom all the emails and texts she had gotten from him, many saying explicit things about the document he wanted her to deliver, and other various things as proof of things he has done against my mom.
My mother works for an attorney. She went today to him to see about getting a restraining order on him.
I asked how it was going, and she said she’s not getting it, but wouldn’t explain. I know she didn’t get back with him, so that’s out of the question. I’m guessing there is something legal or some requirement that’s not being met in order for the restraining order to happen. What could that possibly be? She and the other woman worked hard to get everything straight and forward to present for it.
He has stalked her. He even went as far as to hire people to watch her and track her down when he was away working in the next state over.

Maybe she should go directly to the police with her evidence instead. That’s what most people do when they want to get a restraining order. Or maybe she discovered that the other woman was actually in cahoots with her boyfriend.

Good Intense Movie Idea?
A movie where the characters(6 or 7) come across a place with a bad reputation(ghost stories or missing person reports), and it’s big enough to get lost in, like a rustic northern forest. And then at some point, an accident happens which leaves them scared and paranoid, remembering the stories they heard… then, whether by supernatural forces or simply the night combined with the shadows cast by tall pine trees in the forest, it becomes so dark that without the dim blue light from the stars it would be impossible to see(no moon). Leaving the characters lost with only 1, maybe 2 flashlights which eventually go dead.
After deciding they should go back home, they become separated/lost and end up in pairs or on their own.
Then, due to the lack of light and being unable to distinguish whether they are going in circles or not, they slowly begin to lose their minds and their grasp on reality, and then a couple of characters get lost from their small groups and end up dying from "natural" causes(falling off a cliff, being hit by a falling tree limb, or maybe even killed by another lost and panicking person who mistook them for an animal or "ghost"). Leaving the other characters wondering where they had gone, and maybe worried because of a scream they heard through the trees.

Eventually, 1 or 2 of them make it out of the forest alive, but still scared because of the mind games played on them by the dark forest(maybe they think they saw something or heard something related to the stories they’d heard, when in reality it was only a bush they saw or and animal they heard).

This movie would show how people can become so scared when they cannot gain control over anything… and because this movie would be filmed VERY dark, the audience would only be able to see slightly better than the characters. Thus giving the audience the feeling of confusion just like the characters in the movie.

I can picture the commercial being like "What do you see?……………. When you can’t see anything?".. the title would probably be called Dark or Black or something.

In Search of a Midnight Kiss (2007) IMDB rating: 7.50 Plot: In Search of a Midnight Kiss is a rollicking comic ride and tender journey though love, sex, and modern romance in Los Angeles on New Year’s Eve. Wilson (Scoot McNairy), a twenty-nine-year old guy who has just had the worst year of his life, is new to Los Angeles, has no date, no concrete plans and every intention of locking the doors and forgetting the last year ever happened. That is until his best friend, Jacob (Brian McGuire), browbeats him into posting a personal ad on Craig’s List. when i was on trip with my friends(15-16) it so happened that at midnight some of us were asleep and we(me and 3friends 2girl 1 boy)
decided to go out for night safari and tried searching Jeep keys.the Jeep was owned by our friend who was sleeping in next room .so only me and other boy went to his room and saw him asleep with only under wares(looked so bulging) and a page of some magazine open on his thigh . as girls seem to be coming into room my friend was just signaling no no… to them ,and we all got out from his room. i told girls that sorry but keys are hidden by sleeping friend in a very safe place.they said that no we should find keys out as the other boy was trying to convince them that these are in so safe place…As he angrily exclaimed if you cant understand just dare to go and check his under wares!.I just slept him and we both went to our room.

Death Proof (from Grindhouse) (2007) IMDB rating: 7.50 Plot: Stuntman Mike is a former Hollywood stunt race car driver who targets and kills women with his “death-proof” stunt car. In Act I, Mike surfaces in Austin, Texas to target a group of women whom he knows; Jungle Julia an outgoing, dope-smoking, radio DJ/fashion model meeting her old school friends for a night on the town whom are sentimental model Arlene, and local bad-girl Shanna, as well as bar-nut hippie Pam who tries to make Mike notice her, unaware of his sociopath and misogynist tendencies. In Act II, Stuntman Mike surfaces in Tennessee where he randomly picks another another group of women to stalk all of whom work in the motion picture business; Abernathy is a make-up girl and stand-in wanting a chance of pace in her life. Which movie was better: (Grindhouse) Planet Terror or Death Proof, and why?

They are different genres, so really you’re just asking us why we prefer a certain genre. Planet Terror is a zombie movie, it’s fabulous. Death Proof is like, maybe a kind of funny horror or something, i don’t even know how to define it, but it’s so different from Planet Terror. Planet Terror is faster-paced than Death Proof. Planet Terror’s ending was cliched so much, hahaa, but that was meant obviously so that’s fine. Death Proof’s ending was also cliched, like girl power, but maybe ‘cos i’m a girl i kinda liked that.
It depends on what kind of mood one is in, if i was feeling hyperactive i would rather watch Planet Terror. If i was feeling just, normal or something i would watch Death Proof. Watched it before work the other day, had a great time. Yah.

Edit: I don’t think i could just think of Death Proof as a car film. He stalks them when he’s not in the car doesn’t he? .

I LOVED GRINDHOUSE Death Proof was better, my wife loves the final scene when all the girls kick kurt Russell’s ass. but my fave part on the movie was the accident and how it was in slow motion and they showed it from each passengers perspective. LOVE DEATH PROOF.

I liked Death Proof better. Mainly because I’m more of a suspense horror fan than I am a gore fan. Another reason is that it was filmed close to where I live so I know the area where they filmed it pretty well.

Both of them really sucked big time. I was so disappointed when I spent over $40 buying them when they first came thinking I would like them from seeing trailers. Then I watched them and was pissed!!!!!

But probably Planet Terror cause it had more action, and Death Proof was all talk. I skipped through most of the talking after awhile cause it was so boring. But they still both sucked.

How do I get out of this rut?
I can’t figure out how to get out of my depression, severe anxiety, headaches, etc. I’ve been suicidal again lately wanting to give up, because I have no one to talk to.

I had a messed up family life with a brother who died of cancer when I was really little, I lived with conservative Christian parents in a small town, my father was trying to keep the family a float and i was just alone with my mom and suicidal. I don’t remember anything about my bro even though I was close to him.

Anyway, I was doing okay in elementary school, but in middle school I got bullied, mugged, and harassed for no reason other than being a quiet nice kid in a school full of thugs. Then I transferred to a better high school that I had to bus or get rides across town for with a better education, but it was full of rich snobs who also harassed me until I had a major growth spurt near the end and started working out regularly.

I also had several major health issues throughout my life that often compromised me, and I was often made fun of for being quiet and for not having much.

So after high school, I went to college and worked extremely hard in school and worked on the side to prove to the haters that I could be somebody. I was also someone who’d help homeless people and other people who I saw that were in trouble that other folks neglected. But most of the time in college, I was isolated, all by myself. I didn’t have true friends, I only had a couple friends as a kid (both at risk youth) and they stabbed me in the back and left me when they didn’t need what I had no more.

My family took care of my basic finanical needs even when they were poor, but they didn’t allow me to have many friends (especially those who weren’t Christian, didn’t allow me to listen to most music, watch TV, or whatever. My dad was also abusive and often intimidated me and never let me speak my mind. I pretty mcuh had to listen, because he did bodybuilding.

Anyway, this all didn’t affect me all that much until the past few years. My parents have quite a bit of money now (they bought a nice house), but they could care less about my problems and I don’t have friends. I’m back there right now, because I’m trying to get these health issues solved and am working towards getting my dream job, but other than giving me food, they aren’t concerned. They actually didn’t even believe depression was real until one of my dad’s friends committed suicide. They know that I’m always alone but never talk to me unless they need me to do something for them.

I hate not being able to breath and I hate never being able to sleep or feel at peace. I’ve been to a psychologist, and he did nothing. I’m also often told that this happened because I stopped going to church, but that isn’t true, and I want nothing to do with that hypocritical institution. I feel like all hte people I’ve known in my life turned their back on me even though I helped them during tough times.
I’m trying, but it takes time and getting a job where I live is impossible with 20% unemployment. College grads have a hard time finding min wage jobs ’round here.

I have been through alot of what you are experiencing at the moment. I was badly bullied at school and controlled by my family for years. I am getting treatment from my doctor just now because i kept these things locked up for years thinking they’d dis-appear but they don’t..

Yeah i hope the job happens for you and you manage to get away from it. Seek all the help you can get aswel.

The Verse of Purity (Ayat al-Tatheerah)?
"Allah only wishes to remove all uncleanliness away from you, Ahlul Bayt, and to purify you completely." (c.33:33) In his tafseer (exegesis), the reputable Sunni, al-Fakhr al-Razi uses this ayah (verse) to prove that those five individuals (the Prophet, Ali, Fatima, Hassan, and Hussein) have been purified and immune from any form of sin, both major and minor.

This ayah (c.33:33) descended in the house of Umme Salamah, one of the wives of the Prophet, which later was referred to as the "Event of the Cloak (Hadith al-Kisa)." When the ayah was revealed, the Prophet, Ali b. Abi Talib, Fatima, Hassan, and Hussein were gathered beneath a cloak, and the Angel Gabriel directed and included this ayah to all of them. Umme Salamah was present and asked the Prophet whether she could join them too, but he softly refused her saying. "Anti ala khayr (You are from the people of good)." Therefore, the wives of the Prophet were not included as part of the "Ahlul Bayt" in this ayah, as some assume. To prove further, another wife of the Prophet, Lady Aishah narrated herself that the only people concerned in this verse were Prophet Muhammad, Ali, Fatima, Hassan, and Hussein.

Although, the beginning verses of 33:33 (ayah) address the wives of the Prophet, the ending verse (ayah) clearly do not, since they refer to "Ahlul Bayt" in the mixed (masculine and feminine) gender, rather than in the strict feminine gender, which is used when referring exclusively to the wives of the Prophet (as it was in the beginning). Since the Qur’an is written in Arabic, the language is extraordinary rich in its linguistic composition and it uses the precise words, structure, and style to express itself clearly.

"And stay quietly in your houses, and make not a dazzling display, like that of the former times of Ignorance; and establish regular prayer, and give regular charity; and obey Allah and his Messenger [in Arabic this portion is written in the strictly feminine form].
